Minors (under 21). It is illegal
for anyone under the age of 21 to drink alcohol, and
it is also illegal for an adult to sell or give alcohol
to them, even their own child. |
| |
Driver or somebody who
is operating a motor vehicle. By this time we should
all know the dangers of mixing alcohol with a moving
vehicle. Even one drink can slow down your reaction
time and impair your vision. If you're going out for
an evening, select a non-drinker to drive. |
| |
People who are working. Alcohol
prevents a person from working at their top level. If
you are operating heavy machinery, or are working in
a dangerous location like scaffolding or a roof top,
you are not only hurting your performance, you're putting
your life and others in jeopardy. |
| |
Participants in certain recreational
activities. This could include activities such as
hunting, snowmobiling, skiing, boating, and swimming.
If you really feel alcohol has to be included in these
events, wait until after you've finished for the day.
Don't put yourself and others at risk. |
| |
Women who are pregnant, trying to conceive,
or breast feeding. Drinking during pregnancy causes
birth defects called Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) and
Fetal Alcohol Effect (FAE). Babies with these problems
look different than other children, and may have learning
and behavioral problems that can last their entire lives. |
| |
Persons taking medication. Many
over-the-counter and prescription medications can cause
a dangerous reaction when combined with alcohol. Always
check with your doctor or pharmacist about possible
side effects. |
| |
Recovering alcoholics. Even a small
amount of alcohol may trigger a relapse. |
